Election Day - Nov. 6, 2012

Well, the election didn't turn out how we wanted it.  We're sad Mitt didn't win.  I won't say anything else about it though because my mom taught me if I didn't have anything nice to say, not to say anything at all. :)  Despite it all...We're proud to be an AMERICAN. :)

But we had a fun election night anyway.  We ordered pizza, ate fun desserts including patriotic jello with the Republican elephant on it.  Mitt and Ann even showed up to watch the results with us.  In fact, 3 Mitt's showed up.  Don't know where Paul Ryan was....he must have got lost trying to find our house.

Reading to Daniel

The kids love to sit and read to Daniel.

It's so cute now that he can sit in the bumbo for a little while.

I think Annie's reading is putting Daniel to sleep. :)

Halloween 2012

I left Halloween costumes till the last minute this year.  There I was, 1 hour before the ward trunk or treat, making Halloween costumes.  I think I set a record....1 hour.  Jacob was a cowboy ( I didn't have to make anything for that one...he wore the chaps I made years ago when Christopher was little and we already had a hat and boots).   I made Michael a dinosaur costume out of a hoodie.  Annie was a ladybug...just had to put spots on a shirt and make antennas.  Christopher was a Nascar driver.   I used iron-on transfer paper to put Nascar logos all over a sweatshirt and put a driver number on his hat.  They were happy with them so that is what mattered.

Jacob didn't get into the trunk or treat
The ward trunk or treat was lots of fun.

The school Halloween parade. So many cute kids!!

Trick or treating in the neighborhood.

Michael turns 7

I still see Michael like this.

But now he is a big 7 year old and we are so proud of him.  He has overcome a lot of his fears this year.  He loves learning and has an amazing memory.  And, who can resist his big blue eyes.  :)

Michael's birthday was pretty typical as birthdays go at our house.  Breakfast in bed with a number 7 pancake and opening presents first thing in the morning.  They can't seem to wait any longer so presents are usually opened before 8 am. :)  It was a school day so Michael got to take treats to school for his birthday.  I also surprised him and checked him out for lunch.  He was really surprised and was worried about what would happen to the lunch I had packed for him.  Just like Michael...he worries if he thinks he's breaking the rules.  I assured him it was fine and we would be back before he missed any work.  His choice for lunch...Taco Bell.  He's my kid all right...he likes Mexican food.

In the evening we ordered pizza and watched a movie.  Pretty low key but lots of fun family time.  I probably should have done a friend birthday party for him but it turned out he was sick the next few days anyway so it was a good thing we didn't plan anything.

7 things I love about Michael

1.  He loves to learn.  He remembers details about things and teaches me things every day I didn't know.

2.  He's becoming a great reader.  I just seems to come naturally to him

3.  He is appreciative of the things we do for him and says Thank you.

4.  Michael is a good helper and is considerate of other people.  When he sees someone in need he asks how we can help them.

5.  He has a sweet little testimony and has great insights about the scriptures

6.  Michael has a great smile...his big eyes twinkle.

7.  He is gaining confidence every day.  He knows what is right and does his own thing.  He will be a good leader some day.

Wake up Michael

Notice he drank his egg nog first.  It's his favorite drink and each year he can't wait
till they start selling it.

He was excited about the checkers game

It snowed the day before his birthday.  What a great present.
