Marching Along

How is it April already!  March just came and went and I'm so glad that spring is here.  The buds are on the trees and before I know it I will be reminded why New Jersey is the Garden State.

Here's a run down of what happened in March.

I had a birthday.  Let's just pretend that this next picture is of me.  The only picture of taken of my on my birthday was less than flattering and I'm not going to post it....it was my birthday and I don't have to post if I don't want to. :)   But we had some snow the night before so we had fun outside.  We ate Mexican for dinner which is my favorite.  I got flowers and got to go shopping with Anne.  It was a fun day.

Jacob was eating snow off a stick.  I probably would have been concerned if he was my first child...but being the fourth child  I was just glad he wasn't actually licking snow off the ground. :)

Proof that I actually had a birthday.  40 isn't far away.  Bring it on !!!!

Daniel hit the 6 month mark.  He's starting to get more wiggly and more noisy, but he is still the cutest thing on earth.

I have fun doing Anne's hair.  Here she is with a sock bun.  Her hair-do's rarely last all day, but oh well, it's fun while it lasts.

Some boys got new suits.  Sharp looking kids.

Others weren't as excited about their suits.  But he's got nice looking wavy hair. :)

Anne lost her first tooth.  It was a little anti-climactic because her 2 permanent teeth have been growing in behind her baby teeth for a while.  Can anyone say "orthodontia".  I know we're in for it some day.

The big boys have been into Gogo's.  They trade them at school and such.  Apparently these toys also need complicated Lego vehicles.  Pretty creative, I say.

Blue and Gold Banquet / Pinewood Derby

I am the Cub Scout leader in the ward so I planned the Blue and Gold and Pinewood Derby for this year.  We did a western theme for the dinner.  It was lots of fun.

Here are the boys building their cars.  I think they made the coolest ones there.

We had a open race after each den was done so Michael built a car too.

Anne with her boyfriend Zac.  Whenever we get together they are pretty tight.  The centerpiece on the table are little campfires the kids helped me make out of tissue paper and rocks.  If you look at Jacob's plate you notice all he is eating is a roll....man, is that kid a picky eater.

It's a fun group of boys I've got.  But wow, keeping them focused during den meetings is a challenge. :)

Here I am awarding the boys with their rank advancements, etc.  I don't really like being up in front of people because well....I look like this.  :)   But Christopher sure thinks it's fun that his mom is in charge of all this.  Jacob thought he had to be up there with me the whole time too.

 Their cars.

Weighing in.

Racing.  The derby part was so fun.  I wish we could do more than one a year. There ended up being a little mix up in Christopher's den and they listed the wrong names in each lane.  But they didn't realize it until we had announced winners.  Christopher's car actually came in first, but we didn't want to do anything about it....it's just a race.  But it was fun to know that he and Jeff built a 1st place car.

We had a little photo booth with western props.  Anne and Jacob got a little silly with it.

Jacob really needed a hair cut in March.  He finally got one the day before Easter.

Michael is becoming a great reader.

This picture is deceiving.  Daniel was less than a great sleeper in March.  He takes good naps during the day and becomes a little monster at night, squawking and yelling till he gets to sleep with mom and dad.  He knows what works.

So sad that these are the only pictures I took of Easter.  Also so sad that it's March and we still haven't bought a house and we still have boxes in our living room.

"Whoa...that was a lot of pictures."  This is Jeff's imitation of Daniel.  It's so hard to get a picture of him because when the light goes on the camera he stops smiling and does this.
