Spring is Busy

It seems like this spring is so busy.  Schools try to cram so much in to the last few months of school.  Maybe it's because the weather is nicer, but it's sure hard to keep up with it all sometimes.  Just in the last few weeks we've had, the Grand Friends Tea, teacher appreciation week, Family Outdoor Movie Night,  Michael was scientist of the week, plus we've had lots of baseball games and a ward party.

By the end of the school year we'll also have: 4 days of standardized testing for Christopher, field trips for both Christopher and Michael, the 3rd grade Bike Rodeo, 1st grade Spring Performance, Exhibit Night for Art, parent/teacher conferences, Father/Son Campout, and I'm sure there's a few things I've forgotten.  Oh well, it's all fun so that's what matters.  Jeff and I were talking the other day about how when we were kids we never realized all the things that adults did for us.  They worked so hard to help us grow up right and learn from life.  Now, that is really what we are supposed to be doing.  Giving it all for the kids.  It shouldn't really be about us at this point...it's more about them.

So Jacob- bonking himself in the head while laughing about a piece of paper
that he glued to his hand.  So fun!!

Little Daniel is such a joy

Family Outdoor Movie Night

The kids had fun playing with friends before the movie and eating pizza.  It ended up being a cold night so we were glad when Jeff got there with extra sleeping bags so we didn't freeze.

Look at that jump rope concentration

Baseball

I like baseball but I have to admit I'm pretty happy when the game is over.  It's not always easy keeping the other kids busy and out of the road during the game.

This is sometimes what Anne does

This is what Christopher does.  Sometimes it does involve a lot of standing around.  Now that the boys are pitching, not as much hitting is happening.

This is what I do....watch. :)

This is what Jacob does....takes like 40 pictures with the camera....of the ground and random people.

The walking path home from school is so pretty and green now.

Found Michael using his pillow as a sleeping bag.

Scientist of the Week - Michael !

Michael is having a hard time wanting to go to school these days.  Once he's there he's fine, but drop off is hard.  I went in to see him do his science experiment and he was so nervous it took him a while to even get up there to do it.  You can tell he wasn't too excited at first.  But he got into it once he started and did such a great job!  His experiment was called, Pop and Fizz.  Basically, dancing popcorn kernels inside Alka Seltzer water.  It was fun to watch.

Not to excited at first.  He wouldn't wear the lab coat but did want to wear
the goggles.

Starting to read the instructions

Explaining how it all works.

With his cute teacher who is SOOO nice and supportive of him despite his struggles with shyness.
I wish she could teach 2nd grade next year.

April Showers feel like downpours

Looks like I'm on the monthly schedule for blogging.  Oh well, life is too busy to worry too much about it.

Here's the run down of April.

The weather started getting warm enough for us to walk home from school.
We only live a few blocks from school and most of the walk is a nice walking path.

Melt my heart

General Conference April 2013

Anne made herself a snack necklace to eat during conference.  We stayed home for conference this time.  Our tradition of going and staying in a hotel doesn't seem to be much of a tradition anymore.  Hopefully schedules will allow us to start that up again some time.

Hmmm, sleeping during conference.  Good thing he didn't catch a picture of me doing that. :)

Spring Break

While everyone else went to Disney World or California or some exotic place (okay, not everyone, but it seems like everyone), we stayed home for spring break.  I have come to realize over the years that kids expectations are way lower than we think they are.  They were perfectly happy playing at the park and getting ice cream.  In fact, Christopher and Michael's favorite part of spring break was getting their very own library cards from the Ramsey library.  Free fun!!

Okay, I couldn't get a picture of Jacob with a normal face.  That kid is a riot!

Check out Anne

What is spring break with out a little stick pulling.

Gross Jelly Belly Game

My sister sent the kids some of these funny Jelly Bellies that are a game.  Each color has a good flavor and a bad flavor and you don't know what it's going to be until you eat it.  Strawberry Jam/Centipede, Banana Split/Barf, Pear/ Booger.  No kidding, some of the flavors were disgusting.  And the kids just kept doing it, even though they kept getting these awful flavors.  It was hilarious.  I wouldn't eat even one because no way am I eating a jelly bean that tastes like barf.

Finally, a good one!

Bubble blowing

Stick sword fights

Christopher started baseball.  He's on the Chipmunks team.  He's having a good time with it.
Daniel starting eating more solid foods.  He LOVES food!

Jacob usually only colors monochromatically

Christopher had a "Grand Friends Tea" at school.  They entertained their senior
friends with songs, poems and refreshments.  I wish I could have seen it.
Our friend Armando Arguelles came to be with him and said it was awesome.

See those 2 teeth.

Happy Baby!!
