Last weekend we had reservations to go camping in southern NJ. Some friends of ours told us about
Allaire State Park and these cute little cabins you can stay in. We were really looking forward to getting away for a few days and had a great time. We decided we need to build a rustic little cabin like this in the woods someday to have as a retreat. (I guess we should buy a real house to live in first though, huh). Unfortunately, the boys ended up being sick one of the days and so they were kind of
lethargic and other not fun stuff. But we stuck it out and the next day they felt fine. It turned out to be a rainy weekend so we were really glad we had the cabin. The weather was warm though and the rain was usually just a very light drizzle so we were still outdoors a lot.

I forgot the propane stove and since it was wet outside we ended up cooking on the
wood burning stove in the cabin. It actually worked really well and we felt like pioneers. :)
The kids during a nap. The boys took several naps since they weren't feeling well and Annie joined in on one of them.
One morning Annie was so excited to go outside she just opened the door and ran out to play. She got all muddy but she had fun. :)

Pretty cute kids, huh?

On the way home, we stopped at
Allaire Village which is an old original community from the 1800's. They have people dressed in period clothing and have demonstrations. We watched the blacksmith for a while and bought some yummy treats from the bakery.

Sounds like so much fun - I was thinking about you guys this weekend and wondering if you were getting wet in your tent :) Glad you were camping indoors!
what a fun weekend trip. i love places like that. and it seems the east coast is full of them. so glad you are taking advantage. too bad your kids were sick though.
Annie is a sneaky little soul to go out in her stocking feet. And that caught-in-the-act picture is priceless. Looks like everyone had a blast!
