A few things.
Jacob cut his hair the other day. I can't believe this is the first time one of out kids has done this. It was so funny because he came out of the bathroom and told me he cut his hair. I looked at his head with a shocked look and then just started laughing because...hey what are you going to do...might as well laugh. Then he started crying. He probably thought I'd be upset and it threw him off when I laughed.
Another funny picture. Think it's time for some new shoes???

Michael's zoo field trip
Michael's class went to the Turtle Back Zoo for a field trip. Jeff got to go with him which was so great. He doesn't get to be involved in a lot of the school things because of work but he always tries to go on the field trips when they need helpers. He wanted to go on Christopher's trip to the Liberty Science Center this year too but they only took so many parents and he didn't win the lottery on that one. But the zoo was fun. They just let each group roam around as they chose to and see what they wanted to. Jeff had Michael and his good friend Julen. What a couple of characters.
Exhibit night at school
Exhibit night is when you get to go to the school and see the halls and classrooms filled with projects the kids did during the year. It was lots of fun....and hot...and humid. Why they don't air condition these schools is beyond me. We've already had some 90 degree days and with the humidity it feels like 100.

Memorial Day
Growing up we always used to visit the cemetery in Salt Lake City on Memorial Day to put flowers on the graves of many of the relatives on my mom's side of the family. I haven't done that since I've been married since we haven't been in Utah, but I always think of my grandma on Memorial Day. I still miss her. She was a great lady who taught me a lot about hard work and toughing things out. She loved learning and serving others and I loved her for that.
On Memorial Day the kids and I "took a hike"....literally and figuratively. Jeff had to work...booo...hissss. He was up against a deadline (still is actually) and since he was busy working at home it was easier for the rest of us to get out of the house. We went to a park in Mahwah and played a little and then took a hike around Lake Henry. It was an easy leisurely walk that involved some mud, rock throwing, sticks, turtle sightings, fish touching, and shell collecting. It was lots of fun.
Then afterwards we went to some friends house for a BBQ and s'more making. It was a fun day and the kids loved having the day off school.
